Lompoc’s First Thursdays (FT) story begins with the opening of New Lows screen printing and retail shop back in November of 2011. In a move to bring arts and community together while shedding some light on a newly established business. I proposed hosting and establishing a series of informal pop-up art shows to unify local artists, build culture, and to get some foot traffic through the doors of New Lows. Our first show was scheduled for April 5th, 2012. It was evident after a couple of shows, the need for First Thursdays. With help from fellow artists, friends, local businesses, and community members, we continued to host, direct, and fund FT shows for the following 4 years.

Supporting Local Artists
Love.Peace.Creativity
What started as a small informal art show grew into a well-attended and respected community event. FT continued under the direction of a few local artists. FT provided a great platform to showcase for many first timers. After an eight year stretch First Thursday’s art shows have stopped per the global pandemic of 2020.
