A LOVELY MURDER

2014, Lompoc, Ca

Description: A group of Crows is referred to as a Murder of Crows. Ms. Murders’ hair flows and morphs into a Heart shaped tree as there’re heart shaped leafs scattered about and crows flying out of Ms. Murders’ hair and perched on the tree. Ms.Murder, tree elements, Murder of Crows and love are as one.

Meaning: The Crow is an omen of change and/or a resurrection of life. Crows live in the void and have no sense of time, therefore being able to see past, present and future simultaneously. They unite both the light and the dark, both the inner and the outer.

The above meaning applies to LOVE as well…LOVE Transcends ALL. Love is void of Time, Love is in the Past, Present and Future. Love can evoke the light and the dark from a person. Love can bury and it can also resurrect…’A Lovely Murder’

Article: “One of the emerging muralists that organizations like the society has been able to support over the years is an artist who goes by the name VanTsa. A past member of the society, VanTsa was commissioned by a private homeowner in 2013 to paint a mural on a wall on her Lompoc property.” Read More…

Fellow artist Bumzigana with the assist, added her touch with the mini crow silhouettes and hart shaped leaves.

THE PROCESS

I showed up day one to a primed wall freshly vandalized. I had no drawings or rendering for this mural. I planned on painting, that was 100% i knew I was going to do. The beauty and magic of this piece is a freehand/freestyle painted mural; Who’s title and meaning came about during the painting process.

ENCOURAGE ART

I’ll always remember being around 5 years old and my older brother showed me and let me stiple a drawing he was creating for a high school project. It’s important that we include the little ones in the art process. I’ll almost always let kids put some paint on the wall when I’m working on a mural. I believe we have a responsibility to break down the perception of “I can’t, I’ll mess it up” or any intimidation when it comes to creative expression. This aims to keep things fun and inadvertently builds confidence.
