Phrankie Guerrero is a native of Santa Barbara County who grew up in his hometown of Lompoc, California. His love of art came from cartoons & comic’s of his childhood, and watching his older brother draw. Phrankie’s creative pursuits began as teenager and being exposed to Chicano Arte, Graffiti, Hip-Hop, Skate and Rave cultures of the 90’s.
After the cancellation of a contract and committing a decade to an IT career, Phrankie had an opportunity to rethink his future. Instead of returning to IT, he re-dedicated himself to the arts. It wasn’t a smooth transition, he vowed to make a living doing art in it’s many forms. He’s been actively pursuing art as a lifestyle and means of survival since 2012. He’s spent years dividing his days as a graphic designer, photographer, part-time tattooer and freelance artist.
As a self taught artist he plans to exclusively devote himself to his personal art endeavors and community projects. His personal art pieces under his pseudonym are conceptualized from the human transience of life and nature’s design. Fueled by the intimacy of life, death, and inner relflection, Phrankie combines disciplines and mediums to build vibrant pieces with a melancholy undertone. His style can be described as Goth Graff (suicide girl meets death by graffiti.)

DRAWING
For Phrankie, it all starts with a doodle! Mechanical pencil is his default, before crayons he was coloring his coloring books with pencil. There lives a timeless quality to a lead drawing, which in-turn leads to the beginning of a painting, illustration, or tattoo.

PHOTOGRAPHY
Phrankie was exposed to photography in his late teens and bought his first camera shortly after. Initially the intent was to capture custom reference material for art projects. This progressed to capturing family gatherings and concerts. He enjoys shooting in monochrome by default, the love for contrast and it’s timeless nature.
In between the daily hustle; he unwinds by taking photos while exploring cities & landscapes, hiking, visiting with friends, and attending concerts.

GRAPHIC DESIGN
Phrankie’s graphic design journey started in 1997 with Adobe Pagemaker followed by Photoshop and Illustrator. As a teen he was hand drawing party flyers. Which led to using drawings in combination with a type writer and old school copy & paste techniques using a xerox copy machine. The 3D graphics on 90’s rave flyers peaked his interest and an immediate desire to learn more!
His development with graphic design took some time, these were frustrating years before YouTube or any readily available computer based training. He personally didn’t know anyone who owned a computer let alone designing on one. Over Twenty years later, he’s still learning and appreciative of having the tools at hand to simplify his creative work flow.
